In Santiago they stay at another "Casa Particular," this one owned by Cesar, who in fact invites them to the family's Christmas feast, and it is this day of Christmas that gives the documentary an unexpected weight. Here, the Americans realize that it is impossible to visit Cuba only for its music and culture; that politics will always dominate. Here the storied Bay of Pigs fiasco is recalled in a startling way as the injustice of that invasions aftermath and economic embargo - continuing now for nearing forty-five years - is carved into memory forever.

Cuba's number three official today Commander Juan Almeida was secretly working with JFK in November 1963 to overthrow Fidel.
